A massive fire broke out over the weekend in Crawford County which is located in Northern Michigan.

The fire started at around 1 pm Saturday and quickly burned thousands of acres. News of the fire quickly spread on social media as people traveling through the area shared photos and videos of the smoke that could be seen for miles.

Although no one got hurt, people had to leave their homes and campgrounds, and three buildings were destroyed. I-75 was also shut down for a while as well.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, by Sunday night, firefighters had managed to contain around 90% of the fire that broke out near Grayling.

The number thing Michiganders want to know is how this fire got started. It probably won't come as a shock that it was man-made.

According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the source of the wildfire was a campfire on private property.

An out-of-control campfire combined with extremely hot temps and dry conditions was the ultimate recipe for this massive fire.
